1) Plan each scene so they are interesting and/or action packed.
Instead of writing and building up to an interesting scenario in each act. Aim to write short scenes which are jam packed of interesting stuff suited to your genre. -Whether it be action, comedy or drama. Make sure you create mini scenarios in each scene, make them extremely important to your story or to your character, or at the least make it VERY entertaining.
Keep your scenes short, around 2 minutes is great to keep up with the shortened attention spans of this generation.

2) Create unusual, flawed and relatable characters.
People find themselves invested in a story or film mainly because of the characters. So make them memorable, lovable but most importantly flawed.
If your characters are flawed then they have more to work on and more to achieve within the whole story. To see a character grow, change and learn is so much more satisfying than watching/reading about the meanderings of a perfect, clichéd character.
Character arc is key.
3) Spend time thinking of a fantastic concept.
